AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN
6 TO 12 YEARS OLD

Goal of the
program
Our goal is to
help the children between the ages of 6 and 12 develop their skills
in areas such as: music, arts & crafts, dance and sports, and also
to increase their academic achievement.
Permanent activities
Homework Help:
During the school year we provide the participants with assistance
in understanding their homework while also offering tutoring in
different subjects to those who need it. This service is provided
every day.
Art classes:
The participants have the opportunity to enroll themselves in
different activities that help them to develop their skills in areas
such as, arts & crafts. Schedule:
Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30.
Music classes:
This class is provided once a week by the music director of St. Pius
V Church. Schedule: Tuesdays from 4-5:30.
Intergenerational Exchange:
Once a month during the summer, the children get together with
members of Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly in order to
interact, learn about each other, and break the intergenerational
boundaries.
Field trips:
Children are exposed to different events and places in the community
and outside of it, such as museums, parks, universities, radio
stations, farms, circuses, etc.
Drop in activities
Our facility includes a
game room with pool, ping-pong, foosball, table air hockey and board
games.
Drop Everything and Read
As part of our commitment to literacy, every day participants are
asked to read a leveled book for thirty minutes. Students
comprehension is tracked and monitored by staff through follow up
activities and book reports.
Hours of Service
Monday through Friday 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Registration
Open to children between the ages 6 (must be in first grade) and 12
years old,
Parent / Legal Guardian consent.
