AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN
6 TO 12 YEARS OLD

Goal of the
program
Our goal is to
help the children between the ages of 6 and 12 develop their skills
in areas such as: music, arts & crafts, dance and sports, and also
to increase their academic achievement.
Permanent activities
Tutoring:
During the school year we provide the participants with assistance
in understanding their homework while also offering tutoring in
different subjects to those who need it. This service is provided
every day.
Art classes:
The participants have the opportunity to enroll themselves in
different activities that help them to develop their skills in areas
such as, arts & crafts. Schedule:
Wednesdays from 4:00-5:30.
Music classes:
This class is provided once a week by the music director of St. Pius
V Church. Schedule: Tuesdays from 4-5:30.
Dance:
In dance class, children are taught various styles of dance in an
informal environment in order to allow them to enjoy the art of
dance. Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6.
Folkloric Dance:
The folkloric dance class focuses on Mexican folkloric dancing and
allows the children to learn about their culture through the
traditional dances. Schedule: Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6.
Intergenerational Exchange:
Once a month during the summer, the children get together with
members of Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly in order to
interact, learn about each other, and break the intergenerational
boundaries.
Field trips:
Children are exposed to different events and places in the community
and outside of it, such as museums, parks, universities, radio
stations, farms, circuses, etc.
Drop in activities
Our facility includes a
game room with pool, ping-pong, foosball, table air hockey and board
games.
Hours of Service
Monday through Friday 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Registration
Open to children between the ages 6 (must be in first grade) and 12
years old,
Parent / Legal Guardian consent.
